Plot,
copied from Imdb: An eight year old boy is thought to be lazy and a
troublemaker, until the new art teacher has the patience and compassion to
discover the real problem behind his struggles in school.
A breathtaking
Indian picture. It beautifully portrays everything that is wrong with our school
system and learning process in most of our grammar schools. It shows what the
wrong approach from teachers and parents can do to a helpless child, who doesn’t
and cannot know how to deal with his problems. There are many youngsters like
the main character, who could conquer the world with their intelligence,
abilities and the world-is-a-magical-place attitude.
The main
actor Darsheel
Safary (11 years
old at the time) is the most talented young actor I have seen. He makes you completely
understand what the character thinks, feels, desires. He is so brilliant I
cannot explain. The whole story is powerful, magical, compelling and
mesmerizing and most of all as close to real life as you can get. Because
Indians love colors, music and dancing there is a lot of that. But it makes it
even more special and of course two and a half hours long :) I could not stop thinking about
this movie for a whole week and I will never forget how it made me feel and
that’s the real measure for a good film. It simply does not matter what kind of
movie type person you are, this is a MUST see!
